چکیده
Abstract Reducing the Levelized Cost of Energy is main objective wind turbine industry, in particular for emerging sector floating offshore turbines. In this work, a novel Economic Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (ENMPC) strategy developed to maximize power production The control problem solved through an indirect method, which achieves computational efficiency required apply it real world cases. A non-linear Reduced Order predicts aerodynamic power, generator temperature and platform motions inside controller. set constraints, including bound on temperature, thrust velocities are imposed. Simulations using open-source engineering tool OpenFAST 5MW NREL supported by OC3 spar buoy [1] performed validate model then assess controller performances realistic sea state conditions. With respect standard controller, 4.3% increase generated rated conditions achieved with more stable temperature.

Nonlinear Model Predictive Control of Floating Wind Turbines
In this work a nonlinear model predictive control method for a floating wind turbine is presented. A reduced nonlinear model including disturbance preview of wind and waves is derived and implemented to compute optimal input trajectories for collective pitch and the generator torque. A cost functional is introduced which fulfills all desired constraints and controller goals for above rated wind...
متن کاملOn the Modeling of Spar-type Floating Offshore Wind Turbines
In this paper an overview about floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) including operating conditions, property and applicability of the barge, tension-leg, and spar floating platforms is described. The spar-floating offshore wind turbines (S-FOWT) have advantages in deepwater and their preliminary design, numerical modeling tools and integrated modeling are reviewed. Important conclusions abou...
متن کاملSHM of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines— Challenges and First Solutions
The paper presents an integrated SHM-system for floater, moorings, tower, nacelle and rotor blades. Its core is based on a multivariate SHM-system for rotor blades with three different measuring techniques accompanied by appropriate signal processing approaches: Acoustic Emission (AE) is used for identification of relative small damages at the whole blade, e.g. bursts of fibres, cracks of bon...
متن کاملUnsteady aerodynamic analysis for offshore floating wind turbines under different wind conditions.
A free-vortex wake (FVW) model is developed in this paper to analyse the unsteady aerodynamic performance of offshore floating wind turbines. A time-marching algorithm of third-order accuracy is applied in the FVW model. Owing to the complex floating platform motions, the blade inflow conditions and the positions of initial points of vortex filaments, which are different from the fixed wind tur...
متن کاملA Power Maximization Controller for PMSG Wind Energy Conversion Systems
A new maximum power extraction (MPE) controller for variable speed permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind energy conversion systems (WECS) is proposed. The proposed controller generates optimum speed reference signal for the speed control loop of the vector controlled machine side converter control system without requiring the knowledge of wind speed using only active power and air ...
